Ambassadors are selected and educated on preventable chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes, and they creatively and innovatively deliver this pertinent evidence-based disease prevention information to their peers. Health ambassadors are trained by licensed health practitioners on administering certain health screens like checking weight and height to calculate BMI, measuring body circumference to perform body fat analysis, and conducting blood pressure checks where the perform health screening clinics at various times during school year.

Preventive and Primary Care Services

H.E.A.L. Mississippi Preventive and Primary Healthcare services provides treatment for common illnesses via health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, patient counseling, patient education, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illness. The COVID-19 pandemic allowed us to expand our practice to provide relief for communities throughout Mississippi disproportionately effected by COVID-19. In early 2021, we became a COVID-19 vaccination provider and partnered with the Mississippi State Department of Health in delivering COVID-19 vaccinations to long-term care facility residents and homebound residents throughout Central Mississippi. Home visits have allowed us the opportunity to expand our telehealth services and now we are able to meet persons where they are most comfortable and provide them the high quality care they expect.

Our slogan “ You Can’t Spell Health with out HEAL” is meant to be taken in the literal sense as we aim to lift any barrier necessary to provide easily accessible and high quality care, the type of care the people expect from their healthcare team.
